4 ESSENTIAL POLICIES EVERY LASH ARTIST SHOULD HAVE IN THEIR STUDIO

In the world of eyelash extensions, there are so many things to consider when it comes to the business of lashes. From pricing to marketing, there is a lot that goes into making a successful business. One of the most important factors when starting up your own lash salon is ensuring that you have all of the correct policies and procedures in place. This will help protect both yourself and your clients as well as help ensure that you are compliant with state laws and regulations.

If you’re a lash artist and you’ve been in the business for a while, you know that there are a lot of things to consider when running your business. You have to think about marketing, branding, customer service, and so much more. But what about the lash tech policies that keep your studio running smoothly?

Your studio is your business, and you should treat it as such. If you’re a lash artist, it’s your responsibility to ensure everyone who comes into your studio has a positive experience.

The best way to do this is by creating policies that protect both you and your clients. Here are some essential policies every lash artist should have in their studio:

ARRIVING LATE POLICY

It’s essential to set expectations with your clients on what they should do if they arrive late for their lash appointment. The best way to do this is by having an arrival policy on your website and in your studio. This policy should clearly state what time is considered “late” and what the consequences are for arriving late.

Lash policy appointment rules

For example, if someone arrives 15 minutes late without calling ahead of time, they may not be able to reschedule their appointment until the next available date (or within two weeks). If a client arrives 30 minutes late without calling ahead of time, they would need to reschedule because it’s unlikely that they will be able to complete their appointment within 30 minutes.

TIP: Consider charging a fee if someone is more than 15 minutes late to their appointment. If they don’t show up at all, then you should charge them the full price of the service.

NO SHOW POLICY

A no-show is when a client does not show up for an appointment. This can be very frustrating and costly for the lash artists. It’s important to have policies in place that will protect your business from this happening too often and ensure that you are paid for the time you scheduled with a client.

Eyelash extension policies and procedures

This policy ensures that clients know what will happen if they don’t show up for their appointment. You can make it clear that the appointment will be charged at full price or you can offer rescheduling options. You should also let clients know that they’ll need to reschedule within 24 hours or risk losing their spot in your schedule.

CANCELLATION POLICY

The most important policy to have in your lash studio is a cancellation policy. It’s no secret that people get sick and sometimes, clients just don’t show up to their appointments. Having a clear, consistent cancellation policy will help you manage your schedule and ensure that you’re not turning down new clients because of unpredictable client behavior.

If a client is scheduled for a full set of lashes, and a client cancels less than 24 hours before their appointment, you can charge them 50% of the full price of the service. If your client is scheduled for a fill-in and cancels less than 24 hours before the appointment, you can charge them 25% of the full price of the service. These are common policies among lash artists, but make sure to check with other lash artists in your area.

Lash cancellation policy

If you’re a lash artist, you have to have a cancellation policy. This is a must because of the nature of the business. Clients come in and out, there’s no way to know who will cancel or not. Make sure that your policy is reasonable, but be clear about it from the get-go.

TIP:  If you make the cancellation policy too strict, then you might risk not getting enough bookings. The best thing to do is to find a balance between being accommodating and having a structured schedule.

RESCHEDULING POLICY

A rescheduling policy should also be included in your booking policies page so that clients know how much notice they need to give before changing or cancelling an appointment with you.

For example, rescheduling appointments are always welcome but you can require 24-hour notice for any rescheduling request. Any missed appointments or rescheduled less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time will result in a $50 fee per client. If a client is more than 10 minutes late for their appointment, it will also result in a $50 fee but make sure to check with other lash artist policies in your area.

Lash fill policies

Clients are busy people and sometimes they might need to reschedule their appointment. If you don’t want to take the risk of having no one show up on your schedule, then make sure that you put in place a rescheduling policy as well. Your clients will appreciate it and so will your bottom line!

TIP: When it comes to rescheduling, it’s always best to be flexible with clients who have a legitimate excuse for missing an appointment (for example they were in an accident). However, if a client constantly reschedules without having a good reason or shows up late for their appointment, you should consider asking them to find another lash artist.

CONCLUSION

The most important thing you can do as a lash artist is to be prepared. By implementing these policies, you’re making sure that your studio is legally protected and that your clients are happy and safe.

It’s important to remember that this is just a starting point. All businesses have their unique requirements and needs, so it’s up to you to create a set of policies that best suit your business.
